God Directly Addressing the Mankind, Emdad Khan
One of the central themes of the Quran is mankind, his origin, purpose of life, birth, death, destiny and final destination, and facing the Al-mighty God on the day of Judgement. God himself directly address man kind in the Quran. Here we focus on few verses with the context as man progress in his life cycle.
“O mankind! We created you from a single (pair) of a male and a female, and made you into nations and tribes, that you may know each other. Verily the most honoured of you in the sight of God is who is the most righteous of you. And God has full knowledge and is well acquainted (with all things)”. (49.13).
God Created Mankind into Nations and Tribes to know each other but most honorable in the sight of God is the most righteous one. Let us practice respect, tolerance and inclusiveness in our day to day life as a human society with diversity.
Picture -3: Beauty of God’s Creation
“Has there not been over man a long period of time, when he was not a thing worth mentioning? (76.1) Verily, We have created man from drops of mixed semen in order to try him, so We made him hearer and seer. (2) Verily, We showed him the way, whether he be grateful or ungrateful. (76.3)”
For a Long Period of Time Mankind was not worthy of Mentioning: He created mankind and gave him faculty of hearing and seeing and showed him path to be grateful or ungrateful.Let us be humble, no more arrogance.
“O man! What has made you careless about your Lord, the Most Generous? (82.6) Who created you, fashioned you perfectly, and gave you due proportion; (82.7) In whatever form He willed, He put you together. (82. 8) Nay! But you deny the Day of Recompense. (9) But verily, over you (are appointed angels) to watch you, (10) Kind and Honourable – writing down (your deeds) (11) They know all that you do. (12)Verily, the righteous will be in Delight (Paradise); (82.13) And verily, the wicked will be in the blazing Fire (Hell)” (82.14)
What has made Mankind Careless about his Lord? Let us connect with our creator who created us in right proportion with faculties of seeing, hearing, understanding. He also put two angels to watch over us. He has given us choice to be righteous to be in bliss or if we become wicked we will be in hell fire.
“O mankind! There has come to you a good advice from your Lord (the Qur’an), and a healing for that (disease) Which is in your hearts, – a guidance and a mercy (for the believers).” (10. 57)
Let us contemplate in the Quran where we have from God good advice, healing for our hearts and guidance and mercy.
“Say : “O men! I am sent unto you all, as the Messenger of God, to Whom belonged the dominion of the heavens and the earth: there is no god but He: it is He that gives both life and death. So believe in Allah and His Messenger, the unlettered Prophet, who believed in Allah and His words: follow him that (so) you may be guided.” (7. 158)
God, the owner of heaven & earth, sent Muhammad, as the unlettered prophet to mankind to be guided. God gives life and death, and so let us believe in one God and follow Muhammed to be guided in the right path.
“O mankind! Verily, the Promise of God is true. So let not this present life deceive you, and let not the chief deceiver (Satan) deceive you about God. (35. 5) Surely, Shaitân (Satan) is an enemy to you, so take (treat) him as an enemy. He only invites his Hizb (followers) that they may become the dwellers of the blazing Fire.” (35.6)
Let not the present life or Satan deceive us about God. Satan, as an enemy, invites the followers to be dwellers of the blazing fire. So let Satan not misguide us.
Say: “If the mankind and the jinn were together to produce the like of this Qur’ân, they could not produce the like thereof, even if they helped one another.” (17.88) And indeed We have fully explained to mankind, in this Qur’ân, every kind of similitude, but most of mankind refuse (the truth and accept nothing) but disbelief. (17.89)
Mankind and Jiin together will not be able to produce this Quran. God has explained every kind of examples; so let us take the Quran as our life guide to get peace and tranquility of heart.
“O mankind! Fear your Lord. Indeed! The earthquake of the Hour (of Judgement) is a tremendous thing. (22.1) On the day when you will see it, every nursing mother will forget her nursling and every pregnant one will be delivered of her burden, and thou (Muhammad) will see mankind as drunken, yet they will not be drunken, but the Torment of God will be strong (upon them).” (22.2)
So let us get ready for the life after death while we are living here in this life.
O man! Verily you are ever toiling on towards your Lord ― a painful toiling but you shall meet Him. (84. 6) Then he who is given his Record in his Right hand, (7) Soon will his account be taken by an easy reckoning, (8) And he will turn to his people, rejoicing! (9) But he who is given his Record behind his back― (10) Soon will he invoke for destruction, (11) And he will enter a Blazing Fire. (12) Truly, did he go about among his people, rejoicing! (84.13)
He who get his life record deed book in right hand will have an easy reckoning and will be successful in eternal life. He who get his deed book in left hand will seek self-destruction as he will face eternal failure.
So let us strive to benefit ourselves by doing good deeds for the family, neighbors and community. Every day as ice melts away, same way a day is passed form our life. We are nearing our final destination to meet our Creator God and face our own deed book record to account for.
