Day to Day Life Problem Solving Tool, Dr Emdad Khan, Ottawa

Day to Day Life Problem Solving Tool, Dr Emdad Khan, Ottawa

We, in our daily life, take the help of specialized tools to get t he job done properly. Each trade person has his/her tools, like a carpenter has certain tools, but the electrician has another set of tools. In other words, each trade person has one set of tools, say an office manger use MS office as tools, not useful for the carpenter or electrician.

We human beings are the best of God’s creation. So, let us think, as believers in one God, what is the tool, we must use to solve our day to day life problem here and in the life hereafter.

God, himself has guided and mentored, our beloved prophet, Muhamed (PBUP) for long 23 years from age 40 until age 63, in every step of his life by sending specific message on specific occasion via angel Gabriel (AHS).

Think of God, he has power over all things, and when he intends to do any thing, just intends or says, be, it becomes. He took long 23 years to send the message, piece by piece, instead of sending all at once, why?

The Quran, means reading again and again, is the ultimate tool, God sent to human beings through Muhamed (PBUH) via angel Gabriel (AHS) for reading, understanding, pondering and applying to solve our day to day life problems as well as the problems of life hereafter.

To explain and understand the Quran as a problem soling too, let us take few examples from the life of prophet Muhamed (PBUH) and the Quran itself.

A Clear Guidance and Truth for our real life here: solution for solving all issues. God states:

He it is Who has sent His Messenger (Muhammad SAW) with guidance and the religion of truth to make it victorious over all (other) religions even though the Mushrikûn hate (it) As-saf, (61.9)

The Quran is a guidance for our day to day life, even if some one, not believer or denier, hates it. If we accept it as our life guide, we will be the successful one. We will be serious to read, understand and apply it.

We do not know Arabic: But we have tools to overcome this limitation:But many of us do not know Arabic, the language of the Quran, as Muhammed (PBUH) himself, did not know how to read or write, God guided him via angel Gabriel (AHS).

Good news, now a days, there is a number of online tools for the Quran, where, we can have word by word or verse by verse translations and explanations by many scholars of many background and ethnicity. We an also have recitation by many scholars of different background and ethnicity. One of many such sites is

Think of a Job Interview or a Court Case: Also think of when we go for a job interview or go to a court in front of a judge, we are humble, and careful. We are very attentive and listen with utmost devotion and answer very politely.

Interact with the Quran as we Read: We should also take the recitation of the Quran same way, and interact with the Quran, it from our creator, the master of day of judgement. He sees us, hears us and listen to us.  He answers to us and knows our problems and has the solution.

God addresses us directly, through His Messenger. Every word in the Qur’an is meant for us, conversing with God. Let our heart become alive and respond, our tongue expresses in words the appropriate response. Tears in our Eyes: joy or of fear, Reading the Qur’an with Tartil and beautification as done by Prophet Muhamed (PBUH) and his companions. Purify ourselvs as much as we can, Seeking God’s Help (Du’a).

God is extra ordinarily merciful to us, just for reciting each letter of the Quran, He awards us 10 Hasana/ good deeds in our record. Let us think of, if we act upon His commands in the book, how much reward we will get.

Challenges/Problems bring new opportunities: will find solution

Verily, We have given you (O Muhammad SAW) a manifest victory. (48.1)

After 6 years in Medina, in 628, Muhammad with  a group of 1,400 Muslims marched peacefully without arms towards Makkah, in an attempt to perform the Umrah pilgrimage. Muhammad (PBUH) with the companions camped outside of Makkah, and Muhammad met with Makkan emissaries who wished to prevent the pilgrims’ entry. After negotiations the two parties decided to resolve the matter through diplomacy rather than warfare, and a treaty was drawn up. The conditions in the Treaty of Huwaidiyah looked as if a humiliation for the Muslims. All companions, Abu baker, Omer were all sad for apparent humiliation at the pact of Huwaidiyah. But God declared it is an open victory and after 2 years, Muslims won back Makkah, with out fight.

Event is only 10%, How we handle it is 90%::Same in our life, some events or some agreement may look hamulating but in the long run, it will bring new opportunities and good for us. We need to be patient and handle the event calmly. What we may think harmful, may be good for us, what we think good, may be harmful for us. We need to remember the event is only 10%, how we handle it, is 90%.

Intention to please all the time our Creator, the Almighty God

And they were commanded not, but that they should worship Allâh, and worship none but Him Alone, and perform As-Salât  and give Zakât: and that is the right religion. (98.5)

God has created mankind and jinn for his ibadah only. Whatever activities we do daily from morning to evening all day, are like we are worshiping God, if we do it for our self or our family or community. But doing good works from outwards, should align also inwards in our heart to please the Almighty God only. No one knows what our internal intention is, but He knows and according to  our intention every action will be rewarded.

Community and Family Vision and Plan: Obstacles to come, but steadfast  in our own plan:

Surah Al-Anfal And (remember) when the disbelievers plotted against you (O Muhammad SAW) to imprison you, or to kill you, or to get you out (from your home, i.e. Makkah); they were plotting and God too was plotting, and God is the Best of those who plot. (8.30)

As stated above, God having power over everything, still allowed, the non-believers and deniers of truth to plan to imprison or kill or exile prophet Muhammed (PBUH). However, God assured that, He knows what the non-believers are planning and God is also planning, and His planning is better. Of course, His one will be the successful one.

In this way, when we plan to do some thing for our own life, or for family or community, we will face obstacles. Out of every 10 persons, we will find three helpful ones, 6 of them neutral, and another 3 some way problematic. Out of 10, one of them will be very helpful and another one will be very problematic. We need to be able to handle the situations wisely and patiently.

As required, we need to have a strategy to handle each situation with our proper plan and vision. We will inshaAllah reach our goal. We will see eventually some friends will turn as enemies and from no where some unknown or little-known persons will bring help and be our new friends and supporters. Under all circumstances, we need to be patient and handle the situation comely. God is with those who are patient and we must be patient until God makes His decision.

We should be Diverse and Inclusive and multi ethnic in our Day to Day Life,

Surah Al-Hujraat:O mankind! We have created you from a male and a female, and made you into nations and tribes, that you may know one another. Verily, the most honourable of you with God is that (believer) who has At-Taqwa [i.e. he is one of the Muttaqûn (pious – see V.2:2). Verily, God is All-Knowing, All-Aware. (49.13)

It is very interesting to note God is reminding, all of us, our origin is from one mother Eve and one father Adam. He, with a purpose, created us and divided us into nations and tribes, so we can have good transaction of knowing and dealing with each other. Again, reminded us, who is near to God, who is most obedient of obeying his command and as well as nice in dealing with other human beings.

In conclusion, we wanted to remind all of us that God through prophet Muhammed (PBUH) has given us a most amazing tool, God gifted, the Quran, to solve our day to day problems and life guidance to be successful in this life and in life hereafter.
