Spend for Pleasure of Allah, Dr Emdad Khan
Allah swt describes in Surah al-Insaan Ay8
76:8
وَيُطْعِمُونَ ٱلطَّعَامَ عَلَىٰ حُبِّهِۦ مِسْكِينًۭا وَيَتِيمًۭا وَأَسِيرًا ٨
and give food—despite their desire for it—to the poor, the orphan, and the captive,
— Dr. Mustafa Khattab, the Clear Quran
In next verse, Surah al-Insaan Ay 9, it is described,
76:9
إِنَّمَا نُطْعِمُكُمْ لِوَجْهِ ٱللَّهِ لَا نُرِيدُ مِنكُمْ جَزَآءًۭ وَلَا شُكُورًا ٩
˹saying to themselves, ˺ “We feed you only for the sake of Allah, seeking neither reward nor thanks from you.
We should spend it on orphans, needy and captives, even if we love the food or money.
Here it is reminded, to spend for the pleasure of Allah, and not expect any reward or thanks for the donation.
We know the current circumstances and every one can donate for Palestine and should spend from what He swt has provided us.
Here we have quoted as Allah swt describes orphans, needy and captives or any good cause to a registered charity.
The 2nd verse says spend for pleasure of Allah and in return do not expect thanks or any reward.
Let us whole heartedly donate for Palestine to a registered charity, HCI, IRC or IDRF or any other charity or a masjid like SNMC, OMA and AMA or KMA masjids.
If we give for orphans and needy or captives always keep our intentions for the please of Allah SWT and not expect thanks or reward and never remind the person or group
Human dignity is always important. Charity does not decrease wealth.
