The Morality of Politicians and Leaders.

By Farook Aman

A phrase describing “morality” caught my eye this morning. It describes “immoral” individuals as follows:

“The morality of an immoral person is the same as that of colour to colour-blind individuals.”

It is by an American journalist describing the morality of Former U.S. President, Donald Trump, who has been impeached twice and indicted, so far, twice. Trump’s staunch former close allies are now distancing themselves from him.  Former U.S. Attorney General Bill Barr was quoted recently saying that Trump’s legal woes are matters of Trump’s own making. Outspoken former New Jersey governor and current presidential candidate, Chris Christie, has also added his negative views about his former friend, Trump. The media’s continued onslaught of criticisms on the overt behaviour of Trump is lighting the sky.

In the wake of Trump’s recent criminal indictment with potentially more indictments on the way, where does all this lead?  In the next few weeks/months the role Mr. Trump played in the January 6, 2021, DC Capital Hill insurrection, the Georgia State election scandal, when Trump asked by phone to add 11,780 votes illegally for him to win the State of Georgia, all come up for more scrutiny.  It leads us to many U.S. lawmakers, such as Jim Jordan, Lindsey Graham, Marjory T. Green, and yes, the current majority leader and House Speaker, Kevin McCarthy, and many prominent Republican U.S. senators and U.S. House Representatives, who steadfastly stand by Trump’s BIG lie and conspiracy theories.

Also, they have rushed to defend Trump on the recent two indictments, accusing the Democrats of weaponizing the Justice Department (DOJ). In their various vitriolic separate public comments, they avoided blaming Trump for secretly keeping top secret documents; some with highly confidential military information, in violation of the U.S. Espionage Act.

Some political analysts believe that The Mar A Lago (Gate) case goes deeper than meets the eye.

The question is: Why would Trump take boxes containing hundreds of top secret documents to his Florida Mar A Lago residence and then refuse to give them back to the U.S. Archives? He allegedly lied to the U.S. government and made false statements. He waved publicly top secret documents in a childish show of defiance and ignorance to the law.

The other question, so far, an unanswered one, involves the suspicion that Trump might have already made copies of these documents, allegedly hoping to someday benefit financially by selling the information from them. If that turns out to be a fact, which governments already have the information listed in these documents; Russians, Chinese, North Koreans, Venezuelans, Saudis, or others?

A White House historian asks if this Trump’s behaviour constitutes a treasonable act? There is no proof if that espionage was or was not committed. Who can answer that multi-trillion-dollar question? No one can, except, obviously, Mr. Trump himself and perhaps his secret right-hand man, son-in-law who evidently flew to a Middle Eastern Kingdom and reportedly met with a powerful Prince and allegedly won an over two billion U.S.-dollar investment deal.

With the exception of Trump’s evidently loyal son, Erik, the other siblings are lying low, hiding from the media and saying little, if any, about the God Father, Ex-President.

Many of the highly qualified ( some Harvard PhD graduates ) Republican politicians blindly support Trump in his fight against their Democratic “enemies”, especially President Joe Biden and the DOJ in an attempt to deflect attention. One wonders what does Trump hold against these politicians supporting him? In his quest to be a presidential candidate in 2016, Texas Senator, Ted Cruz, was on the receiving end of a barrage of public insults to him and his family from Trump. Cruz publicly said he would not tolerate these insults aimed at his wife and his father from anyone. He would fight Trump. Cruz proved to be a paper tiger holding a microphone when he forgot what he had said on the record and started to lick Trump’s boots instead. And this is a Harvard-educated Senator!

So what does Trump do to keep these loyal Republican politicians loyal to him? Does he bribe them with cash, dangle high political post offers, or as the God Father did: Give them an offer that they can not refuse?

Is Marjory T. Green’s high hopes to be Trump’s on the vice presidential ticket in the 2024 election, when she flew to Florida and rubbed shoulders with Trump’s, exhibiting a jaw-to-jaw happy grin photo op?
No doubt, behind the curtain, political wheeling and dealing is also taking place within the Democrats too. Leaders on both sides of the aisle adopt shameless behaviour.
Let us examine what the Republican agenda details to benefit U.S. Citizens. ‘Sorry sir, there is little or none! We are busy trying to blame the Democrats for everything the Democrats do.’ Joe Biden’s Administration managed to end COVID-19, while under Trump’s Presidency, the USA suffered the most victims of any country in the world, including China. Post-COVID, the Biden Administration witnesses more new jobs, lower unemployment rates, decreased inflation, and aims at achieving higher goals. What do the House and Senate Republicans do? Some examples: They stand against increasing the Debt Limit. They accuse the Democrats of weaponizing the DOJ against its political enemies. MAGA threatens the House Speaker, Kevin McCarthy, to kick him out of the speaker-ship position for agreeing on the eleventh hour for the increase to the Debt Limit.

It was reported that failing to pass the Debt Limit by June 5th, 2023, Millions of American citizens would have potentially suffered catastrophic losses, and world investors would have shied away from the defaulting US economy, which would potentially have long lasting negative economical impact.

The Republicans wave their hands: We do not mind that!

Why would the Republican lawmakers wish to inflict such harm on their fellow citizens? Do they not have one wise person amongst them to draw their attention to the awful potential repercussions that would have caused?

The answer is allegedly : What would Trump, backstage, do to them? They are therefore fearful of the God Father’s wrath!

So, they go along with the Trump-ism flow blindly. But when the Spanish bull falls, the swords hail on it, while the spectators frantically applaud. The coward remains coward until the bull falls, then the hidden courage springs out to their souls while they raise their swords and wear that long-awaited stony face as they hit the collapsing bull. Iraq’s Saddam Hussain, Libya’s Moamar Kadhafi, C. Chiscow of Romania, Hitler, Mussolini of Italy, and others, have experienced being at the end of the tunnel and felt the pain of the piercing swords to their bleeding skins.
So far, most Republicans are awaiting that day!
